Non-Vorkosigan Bujold Quotes

We had a spate of Vorkosigan quotes. A re-read of  The Curse of Chalion cries out for a spate of others.

One particularly appropriate for full-moon time in October:

"My chosen god is, dare I say it, fiendishly ambiguous at times . . . "

Ha! Yes-- I love Curse of Chalion madly (possibly my favorite LMB, though perhaps my second favorite after Memory). "In the last [dream], my horse ate me." (I don't have my copy right now, so apologies if it didn't come out quite right...)

I like all the five gods books; they're all on my re-read list. I just read that section a day ago; it's as close as I remember it.

And the longer one, much later, when Palli advises a convalescing Caz that perhaps his quatrain to Betriz' nose was a tactical mistake.

Details from the other two blur. Time to rotate them in.

Memory is a favorite, too, but I usually start half-way in. The first part is just too painful. This business of landing the worst-possible thing on the protagonist initially has the virtue of permitting impressive accomplishments, but living through it with the protagonist is painful. Shards and Barrayar weren't that painful at the start, although the second was making progress. I suppose Lois was still learning her trade.
